this piece is part of a collaborative work with video artists Bradley mccallum and Jacqueline tarry. their films use themselves as material, exploring the dynamics of race, history, and their own relationship as a couple. I have provided sound design/installation, which uses samples from minstrel songs based on “uncle tom’s cabin” to compliment their use of topsy turvy dolls. For more information on mccallum and tarry's work, visit their website. The work is part of the exhibit, “Legacies: Contemporary Artists Reflect on Slavery” at the New York Historical Society.
